PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project Management focuses on a holistic approach to project management. The content deals with planning, scheduling, organizing, and controlling projects—for example, product development, construction, information systems, new businesses, and special events. The course includes major topics of Strategy, Priorities, Organization, Project Tools, and Leadership. Primary class emphasis is on the project management process and tools. Project management is becoming more important in today’s world. Mastery of key tools and concepts could give you a significant competitive advantage in the marketplace. 

  • The intent of this course is to provide learners with powerful concepts, skills, models, and tools to use to "think strategically" while acting tactically throughout their careers.
  • This course counts for 20 SHRM and HRCI recertification credit hours or 2 University credits.
  • The Learning System for PMP® Exam Preparation materials available to those interested, but are not required to take this course.
  • The next course is offered over two Saturdays, 9am-3pm.

NEGOTIATIONS

Negotiation is a fact of life.  Everyone negotiations almost daily, but generally never think about their effectiveness.  Negotiating for Results, The Power of Know is a highly interactive exploring the ways people negotiate to create value and resolve disputes.  Designed both to improve understanding of the negotiation process and to build negotiations skills, the curriculum integrates research from academic fields with experiential learning exercises.

  • Learners who take this course increase their ability to influence peers, persuade teams members, improve financial terms, decrease costs, and influence the decisions of others.
  • The course focuses on a powerful process of negotiations planning, emphasizing the What, the How and the Who of negotiations.
  • This course also counts for 20 SHRM and HRCI recertification credit hours or 2 University credits.

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

Organizations become great through exceptional leadership.  Exceptional leaders connect the efforts of their teams to the critical objectives of the organization.  They tap the full potential of each individual on the team; they clarify purpose and align systems and most importantly they inspire trust.  This course is intended for both formal and information leaders in organizations.  Individuals who lead others, projects or initiatives will have the chance to become great leaders as a result of this course.

Critical and Strategic Thinking

Organizational excellence can be achieved through the development or refinement of an organizational culture built on a process focusing on strategic thinking, acting and learning.  Engaging in both critical and strategic thinking is required in contemporary organizations.
